Do you know that moment when the scent of cinnamon fills the room and suddenly everything seems a little cosier? We wanted to rediscover that feeling – and immersed ourselves in the creative world of recipes from Pågen. These little Swedish cinnamon buns, known as Gifflar, are not only a tasty snack between meals, but also the perfect basis for quick and delicious esserts.
Here are three of our favourite ideas – inspired by Pågen.
1. Gifflar cheesecake with a hint of lemon
Perfect for guests or the family:
Line the base of a springform pan with sliced Gifflar. For the cream, mix cream cheese, crème fraîche, lemon zest and juice with a little vanilla sugar and gelatine. Whisk the mixture until light and fluffy and pour it over the Gifflar. Leave in the fridge overnight – serve the next day with whipped cream and fresh berries.

2. Gifflar trifle with berries & cream
For a quick, fruity dessert:
Cut a few Gifflar (vanilla) into pieces and layer them alternately with whipped cream, vanilla cream and fresh berries in a glass. This creates a dessert with a beautiful texture contrast – quick to make, big on flavour.

3. Apple cake with Gifflar cinnamon
For cosy autumn evenings:
Cut the Gifflar cinnamon sticks lengthways and place them in an ovenproof dish. Layer thin apple slices, a little apple sauce, cinnamon and butter on top. Repeat the layers and bake in the oven for approx. 25 minutes. Serve the warm cake with vanilla sauce or cream – wonderfully fragrant and super quick.
